One thing any web designer needs is access to high-quality photos.

If you’re working for a large company or web design agency then you might be given enough of a budget to afford to hire a professional photographer or buy stock photography from a site like Getty. There are also budget photo sites that still provide relatively high-quality images, like iStockPhoto and Dreamstime.

From January 1st 2007 there will be some new rules for UK companies regarding their websites and emails they send out.

Basically, if you’re a company based in the UK you need to include the same statutory information on outgoing emails and on your website as you would on letters and invoices. Otherwise, you risk a fine.

That means you need to include:

• Company registration number
• Registered office address
• Email address
• Place of registration
• VAT number, if applicable
• Membership (with membership numbers) of any trade or professional associations, if applicable
• Clear and unambiguous prices

How many links is too many?

According to the experts, 7 is the maximum number of choices you should give somebody on a website at any one time.

That means no more than 7 links in navigation
