I’m in the process or redesigning the site for my web design company.
Before I started the design work, I just wanted to check which screen resolutions people were using when visiting our current site.
I was surprised by the results.
For some reason, Web Design Book is currently top of Google image search for “Heidi Sugababes”.
Not what you expect from a web design blog, is it?

I recently found out about a new social networking site, with a twist.
It’s called Flugpo and .. while it has the silly Web 2.0 name .. at first sights it doesn’t have the design finesse of many social networking sites.
The twist, as you may have guessed from the title of this post, is that as well as allowing you to network, it also allows you to sell stuff using classified ads.
Will it take off? No idea. However, it’s easy to see how you to monetize an idea like this, rather than having to rely on banner advertising, like Myspace or Facebook.
If you live in the UK you should have seen the superb TV sitcom The I.T. Crowd by now (pronounced I.T - not “it”!). If not, shame on you!
Anyway, one of my pet subjects is attention to detail. It’s a really important thing for any designer to have and the show has it in spades. However, the DVD box set takes this attention to detail to another level.
Within 3 seconds of putting the DVD into my DVD player, I was already convinced this was the best DVD box set ever.
I don’t want to spoil it too much, but I’ll leave you with this screenshot of one of the DVD menu screens.

I’m addicted to a site called Logosauce at the moment. Not because it’s good. Because Logosauce sucks. Well, in fairness, it’s not the site that sucks, it’s the “designers” who use it.
Logosauce is a website which allows “designers” (I use the word loosely) to upload logos they’ve designed, including for the competitions the site runs.
However, it’s a great way to get a better understanding of what makes good design.
Some of the logos on the site are OK, but most are somewhere between awful and criminal.
