Colorschemer.com is a great way to work out which colour you think is best for your design. It has pages and pages of different colour combinations. The combinations are rated, so you can see which combos are popular.
It’s an easy way to quickly run through a lot of combinations without having to code your site, also it enables you to pick other designers brains and see what kind of thing they come up with.

Even people who otherwise count themselves as good at design say they struggle with picking colour schemes.
