We’re only just on version 2 of the web (at least if you believe the hype) but version 3 is set to stink, if South Korea’s future gazers are to be believed.
That’s because we’re all going to have “fragrance cartridges” attached to our computers - and websites will be able to send a signal to them to let out the aroma of rose petals .. or perhaps the whiff of some dog’s mess.
So while Web 2.0 is all about social networking and dodgy logos, Web 3.0 could be all about the smell. I can’t wait!
I think I’ll go and register stinkr.com now.
;o)
The prediction comes as part of a wide-ranging review on future trends from the Korean Ministry of Information and Communication.
Other predictions include Robots performing surgery and bulletproof vests for soldiers that can turn them invisible.
Given that they’ve been predicting smellyvision since the American information films of the 1950s, I’m not holding my breath for it.
