Web Design Book - What they say: Craig McManus

Craig McManus, over at the Boagworld forum, did a short review of Web Design in easy steps. Here are the highlights of what he said:

I found it to be very informative, it covers pretty much everything web design related, in fact I was quite surprised how many topics it had in it, really does ‘full coverage’; giving you a brief but good understanding of all the topics with useful tip bits thrown in all over the shop, while being easy and entertaining to read.

For me to get through a book in a month is almost unheard of, but this I managed in a day: and I feel I’ve learnt a great deal today.

Great entry level guide into EVERYTHING web design.

Dan over at Dan Blog has recently written a review of “Web Design in easy steps”.

Web Design Book’s review of the Married 2 Magic website is currently featured on the Voice Thread homepage.

Voice thread is an interesting new site that allows you to add a voice commentary to images.

We’re using the site to do audio reviews of websites, but there are quite a few other uses for the system. For example, a photographer could comment on their photos or a tourist could produce on online slideshow.

Voice Thread is definitely worth a look.

I received an email yesterday from a gentleman named John Church, who had bought my book and wanted to let me know what he thought about it.

I thought I’d share the email conversation, as I’m really quite proud of John’s feedback.

John’s in his 70s and decided to set up a small, personal website about a year ago. He had tried reading some of the books on web design that are out there, but wasn’t able to follow them, even though they were supposedly aimed at total beginners.

But he recently bought my book, Web Design in easy steps, and found it really easy to follow.

I am not stupid after all, I just didn’t buy the right book.

I can’t tell you how happy I was to hear that. I put a lot of time and effort into perfecting Web Design in easy steps (and so did a lot of other people, such as my friends, family and publisher) - so to hear that I’ve helped somebody to understand web design makes it all worth while.

Obviously I think “Web Design in easy steps” is great - after all, I wrote it.

But it’s not what I think that counts. I’ll try to post links to as many reviews of the book as possible.
